Waalweg, Marlengo’s canal path
The so called Waal is a network of artificial canals dug to water the local cultivations. The Aqualis Residence is right next to the Waalweg from which it derives its Latin name Aqualis.
Numerous idyllic paths along the small canals, known as ‘rogge’, are ideal for family walks. The most beautiful ‘roggia’ was built 250 years ago and, with its 12 kilometres, is South Tyrol longest canal. It still now brings water from Tel to Marlengo. The Merano Waalweg can be accessed from various locations and unwinds along the feet of Mount Marlengo, leading through Foresta, Marlengo, Cermes and all the way up to Lana.
